Let's Talk!

Seasons

I am mindful of the seasons of our lives, especially coming out of a winter season into the Springtime! God our Father and creator created the seasons specifically for signs and for our accounting of time in our lives.
14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: Gen. 1:14
In his creative masterpiece, God created seasons to mark time, to display signs and his miraculous provision, and to help us understand our work, our family, our relationships, our intimacy with Him. Read more...

What is the Bride Song?

What is the Bride Song?

The Bride Song is just a serenade to the King! I remember 20 years ago, when I married the Love of my life, Paul Parkin, during our reception, there was a beautiful grand piano, and my husband sat on a stool, and I serenaded him on the piano! All who were there celebrated and applauded the serenade from the Bride to her King! And of course they passed around the boot and we collected enough to cover our honeymoon dinner that night! As I recount that serenade, I am reminded that I exuded the Bride Song even then, and that was a natural depiction of how our Love Song moves the King of Kings, Jesus Christ!

Praise and Worship Songs

As a worship leader, I familiarize myself with different genres of music, specifically as it pertains to Christian praise and worship music. Growing up in the Southern Baptist Church, we sang out of the hymnal and really cherished the beautiful hymns, some spanning several centuries. I love the stories and inspirations of many of those beautiful hymns, and many were literally scripture and scriptural lessons brought to life through music. As a pianist, I learned many of them with block chords and very little variance from the familiar way of performing them. Some of my personal favorites were It is Well with My Soul, Great is Thy Faithfulness, In the Garden, The Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace, and of course I Surrender All and many of the altar calls. I remember many services that my mother played for (and her mother, and my father's mother), were usually thematically based and usually determined by the Pastor's sermon or his monthly message series. I loved the Easter Cantatas and the Christmas plays and Children's programs which delighted the parents and were seasonal highlights. This is my foundational understanding of the role of praise and worship music in the Church.

After Glow

What is an afterglow and what is its purpose?

I am always asking why do we do the things that we do? And what is its purpose and is there any reference in the Bible that sets a precedent? Let us see what The Word illuminates to us in our query...

Fire and Rain 2015 Conference

Fire and Rain 2015 Conference

As I prepare for the upcoming Fire and Rain Conference this weekend with Lora Allison and her incredible assembly of prophets, I consider the thought of Fire and Rain in the same place. I believe nothing is too hard for God, but how do both occupy the same place, and what does the manifestation of fire and rain have to do with each other? As I often have questions, I look to the Mighty Word of God for answers. Where do fire and rain occupy the same place in the Word of God and what is its significance? I am reminded of 1Kings 18 where fire and rain occur in the same place and in the same chapter. It begins with a showdown between the prophet Elijah and the prophets of Baal...and begins with water...and it began with a question in verse 21, "How long will you waiver between two opinions?"  I ask you the same question. Houston how long will you waiver between two opinions?

The Burn After Glow Conversation

One of the most important aspects of any crusade, movement of God, or revival for a city or a region is the element of intense worship and prayer. The purpose of this conversation is to continue in this initial burst of worship and intercession for he continuing harvest of the city and region of Houston. Please join us in this conversation as we share our perspective of what was poured forth in all of the worship and prayer sessions of the Burn from the many worshippers and prayer warriors who participated. Collectively what was God saying through the many mouthpieces and what was God doing in each of your experiences in the Burn? Let's keep the candle burning in the city of Houston, blowing on the embers, and stoking the flames of revival that will become a wildfire of His Presence and power that will engulf our Region in the Kingdom on earth here in Houston! And let's see the worship and intercession community unite with one common purpose...to see Houston Saved! Raelynn

A Convergence of Many Rivers

I wanted to lend the perspective of a fellow Houstonian about this incredibly historic moment for Houston. I am amazed by the organization of such an event and have watched and participated in the activities that have led to its finale this weekend. It began with honor and honor has been its hallmark throughout. It is a testimony of how to truly come together for the kingdom and to affect an entire region on an unprecedented scale. I see a convergence of many rivers coming together to create a raging river that cannot be contained within its borders, spilling out to every part of this region, bringing life wherever it goes...

Latter House of Glory

The Glory of the Latter House

6  “This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. 7 I will shake all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the Lord Almighty. 8 ‘The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the Lord Almighty.  9 ‘The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house,’ says the Lord Almighty. ‘And in this place I will grant peace,’ declares the Lord Almighty.”   Haggai 2:9

This is such an amazing promise and one to which we eagerly look forward. As with many scriptures, there usually was a more immediate context as well as a prophetic forecast for another day yet to come. But to understand we have to visit the former house

Tabernacle of David

What does God want to rebuild in the earth?
It is interesting that God created everything we see from the majestic mountains to the depths of the oceans to the dense rain forests and every grain of sand in the desert as well as all life that inhabit these environments, and yet there is something God wants to build in the earth. Of all the beautiful cathedrals and monuments and palaces and architectural wonders, God wants to raise up a fallen tent. Interesting that man has built many things through inspiration, intellect, and technology, and yet God wants to build only one thing. And of all the sacred places from the Temple of Solomon to the palaces of David and Solomon and all the temples erected later, God wants to build the tabernacle of David as in days of old or as it used to be. So what is it about the Tabernacle of David that God is so interested in building in the earth? Let's examine what was in the tabernacle of David.

Third Day Worship

What is third day worship?

Many people wonder what is third day worship and how does it correlate to the modern church. In the pattern of the tabernacle, the entrance to the courtyard, known as the outer court, then progressed to the Holy Place, the inner court, then to the Most Holy Place otherwise known as the Holy of Holies.  All the people were permitted to enter into the tabernacle courtyard or the outer court, and many of the sacrifices and rituals were performed in the Holy place or the inner court, by the priesthood. The Most Holy Place or the Holy of Holies was only visited once a year by the High Priest with the threat of death if not deemed worthy by a pure and repentant life. So we see the masses in the outer courts, and the select priesthood in the inner courts with only one allowed in the Holy of Holies where the tangible Presence of God resided.
