What is the Bride Song?

What is the Bride Song?

The Bride Song is just a serenade to the King! I remember 20 years ago, when I married the Love of my life, Paul Parkin, during our reception, there was a beautiful grand piano, and my husband sat on a stool, and I serenaded him on the piano! All who were there celebrated and applauded the serenade from the Bride to her King! And of course they passed around the boot and we collected enough to cover our honeymoon dinner that night! As I recount that serenade, I am reminded that I exuded the Bride Song even then, and that was a natural depiction of how our Love Song moves the King of Kings, Jesus Christ!

Who is the Bride?

The Bride is the Church of Jesus Christ! In fact, it is very clearly spelled out in the scriptures as in reference to the marriage and relationship between Jesus Christ and His Church!

21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. Ephesians 5:21-32

I love the tenderness and great care the Lord takes concerning His Church, beginning with His own sacrificial Love preparing a way for her, His cleansing her, washing her with the water of His Word in order to present the most Beautiful and radiant Bride unto Himself! How beautiful the Bride would be with such sacrificial, tender, loving care of the Bride! Her beauty radiates from that tenderness, the loving washing words that flow over her, making her clean, spotless without blemish, and glorious! That is better than any miracle cream the world has to offer!

This profound mystery is being unveiled before our eyes like never before! If the marriage is the mystery of Jesus Christ and His Church, then it is not surprising the unprecedented attacks upon marriage in America today! Where it all seems to be about flesh, specifically about sex and perversion apart from the sanctity of marriage, it is not! Listen to what Paul said in the 1st century...

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12

Here is another description of the Bride, showing her in her many facets in this picturesque display in John's Revelation.

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.

The New Jerusalem, the Bride of the Lamb
9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11 It shone with the glory of God,and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel.13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. 16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long. 17 The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits thick. 18 The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.
22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. Revelation 21:1-7, 9-27

1 Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain. Psalm 127:1

You see, the Lord Jesus Himself came to tabernacle with us. He came to dwell with us and to live in us, fully revealing His Glory given Him by the Father to the rest of the world! He was a master carpenter by trade, He came to build a House of Prayer for His Father, the Temple of God which is Holy! And as a master Builder of His House, he is preparing a city built upon the Rock, whose foundation is the Cornerstone, Jesus, with carefully placed gorgeous living stones, us, and precious jewels, and the gates to gain entrance are the twelve tribes of Israel! There is no need for light, for the Lamb is the Light, the Glory radiating to everyone and everywhere! This is the Glorious Bride, The Temple, The Tabernacle where Jesus Shines in all of His Brilliance, without ceasing and without measure!

What does the Bridegroom look like?

12 I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands,13 and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. 14 The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15 His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.
17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.
19 “Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later. 20 The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lampstands is this: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches. Revelation 1:12-20
