A Convergence of Many Rivers

I wanted to lend the perspective of a fellow Houstonian about this incredibly historic moment for Houston. I am amazed by the organization of such an event and have watched and participated in the activities that have led to its finale this weekend. It began with honor and honor has been its hallmark throughout. It is a testimony of how to truly come together for the kingdom and to affect an entire region on an unprecedented scale. I see a convergence of many rivers coming together to create a raging river that cannot be contained within its borders, spilling out to every part of this region, bringing life wherever it goes.

I am reminiscent of several rivers as recorded in the Bible, let us quickly visit them. The first river is the Jordan River and the Israelites' crossing in Joshua 3

2 After three days the officers went throughout the camp, 3 giving orders to the people: “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the Levitical priests carrying it, you are to move out from your positions and follow it. 4 Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before. 5 Joshua told the people, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.”

14 So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them. 15 Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, 16 the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho. 17 The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.                                                    Joshua 3: 2-5, 14-17

So many principles I could highlight here, but in verse 2, the people are instructed to see where the ark of Glory is going and to follow it in verse 4, "Then you will know which way to go, since you have never been this way before.” Also he tells them in verse 5 to consecrate themselves for the Lord is about to do amazing things among you. I believe these are key for the Church here in Houston, for the people to consecrate themselves and to watch the ark of Glory carried by its chosen priesthood to know which way to go, since we have never been this way before! Each group had its part to fulfill from the leader Joshua to the officers to the priesthood to the people in this unprecedented event! This is what I see being accomplished and organized through this entire crusade. Also, I love what is recorded in verse 15, "...now the Jordan River is at flood stage all during harvest..." It is because the River is spilling over its banks at flood stage...for the purpose of The harvest! It is the season for this miraculous event to occur, and not an accident or untimed event, but a season under heaven to display the Glory and Majesty of our God!

Another river I want to visit is recorded in Ezekiel 47, but for the purpose of this article, I will be brief.  He begins in his observation of water coming out from the threshold of the temple, as a trickle. Then as the angel went from there in a measured distance, Ezekiel was led through water ankle deep, then knee deep, then up to the waist.

3 As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and then led me through water that was ankle-deep. 4 He measured off another thousand cubits and led me through water that was knee-deep. He measured off another thousand and led me through water that was up to the waist. 5 He measured off another thousand, but now it was a river that I could not cross, because the water had risen and was deep enough to swim in—a river that no one could cross. 6 He asked me, “Son of man, do you see this?”

Then he led me back to the bank of the river. 7 When I arrived there, I saw a great number of trees on each side of the river. 8 He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh. 9 Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows. There will be large numbers of fish, because this water flows there and makes the salt water fresh; so where the river flows everything will live.                                                                                                                                                           Ezekiel 47:3-9

I love this passage because again it has to do with the Harvest. The waters that flow from the temple becomes a raging river one could not cross and deep enough to swim in, literally over the head. But these fresh waters flowing from the life in the temple (there should be rivers flowing from the Church!) empties into the Dead Sea, the sea of humanity and brings fresh life so that everything will live! I believe this is what we will witness in Houston this weekend, a convergence of many rivers at flood stage for the purpose of the harvest; to bring life to a city and a region, where all that is dead shall live, with the Resurrection power of the Gospel being preached!

Interesting that the Reinhard Bonnke crusade has administered its focused efforts in stages! And they have entered the city with honor! They began with a pastor's luncheon to honor the servants of the city and to bring them together in unity of purpose and harmony to accomplish this harvest together and to share their vision for the harvesting of a city and a region! I have always believed that Houston would not just be won from the outside but from a collaboration that includes those who have labored from within that God has raised up from this city! We have already witnessed great fruit from the student rallies and various outreaches in the Churches and in the city. And I see all the various rivers within the Churches of Houston coming together in a historic moment with united purpose to see this city saved!

There will be 24 hour prayer and worship as in the Tabernacle of David before and during the entire crusade weekend. We as Bride Song Ministries will participate in this area, to facilitate an atmosphere of Glory and an Open Heaven for this historic event!

One last thing, There is a convergence of one more river, a 100 year prophetic river. By 1915 William Seymour of the Azusa Street Revival had prophesied there would be another great outpouring in about 100 years....

In Houston, we as part of this prophetic generation have held onto this 100 year prophecy concerning our city and 2015 is 100 years from this incredible pronouncement! I believe Houston will see the fruit of revival and the Reinhard Bonnke crusade is the spearhead for breakthrough!

Thank you to this amazing group of revival evangelists and all of the Reinhard Bonnke staff for choosing Houston and working tirelessly to see the city of Houston won for Christ! Thank you to all of the churches, the pastors, the leaders, and all the people of Houston who are joining together for the Harvest in Houston to be realized! Thank you to all of the worshippers and intercessors who will stand the ground and release a sound that opens the Heavens and creates an atmosphere for Glory and Revival! And thank you Houston for heeding the call!

See you in the Throne Room,
